Youth Empowerment Zone
The YEZ Liberia/ employability platform is an employability, educational, and opportunities web-based platform that seeks to increase access to information on employability, and educational opportunities.
The platform is in response to the dearth of information available to youth about livelihood and job opportunities in the country thereby limiting their ability to access these opportunities. The platform serves as a central point of information dissemination on employability and empowerment resources for the youth as well as host a database of actors in the youth sector along with information on the activities they support.
It all started in 2021, after the World Bank sponsored the development of a web-based digital platform that will increase access to youth employability and empowerment. A team of youth were hired by the Bank team through a competitive youth ICT Hackathon, to support the design of the platform. After numerous of research, testing and development, the platform was designed and named Youth Empowerment Zone Liberia or YEZ Liberia. This platform is integrated into the implementation of REALISE Project. Under REALISE Project, the platform will be used to increase beneficiaries’ access to information on jobs, training, and other empowerment opportunities as a way of improving their employability.
