SOS Children’s Villages Liberia, an affiliate of SOS Children’s Villages International (CVI), is officially seeking an exceptional, visionary, and purpose-driven leader to serve as National Director.
Established in 1949, SOS CVI is a dynamic, non-governmental, non-political, and non-racial international social development organization operating globally to protect the rights of children without parental care or those at risk of losing it. The National Director will serve as the legal representative of the National Association (NA) in Liberia, providing overarching strategic direction, maximizing organizational assets, and championing top-tier child safeguarding and PSHEA compliance.

1. Strategic Direction, Governance & Finance
- Establish, guide, and execute core program and financial strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of NA Liberia.
- Lead national management and governance structures, ensuring absolute adherence to local legally binding statutory requirements.
- Oversee solid financial management processes compliant with donor regulations, monitoring budgets, tracking internal controls, and implementing audit recommendations.
- Act as the official legal representative of the organization at national affiliations, high-profile functions, and international forums.
- Identify, evaluate, and proactively mitigate political, social, financial, operational, and regulatory compliance risks.
- Champion a strict child safeguarding culture, taking strong executive action against non-adherence to codes of conduct, child protection policies, and PSHEA regulations.
- Lead the country-level resource mobilization strategy by overseeing grant acquisitions, proposal writing, and compliance.
- Build and maintain deep strategic networks with major institutional donors, corporate entities, international foundations, child rights forums, and the Government of Liberia.
- Oversee workforce planning, professional recruitment, orientation, performance tracking, and continuous talent development across the National Office.
- Maintain stable employee relations, manage internal conflicts constructively, and foster a collaborative organizational culture.
- Education: Advanced University Degree (Master’s degree) in Development Studies, Project Management, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive work experience within the non-profit or humanitarian sector, of which at least five (5) years must be at a senior management/executive leadership level.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of child rights, public sector funding, child care frameworks, resource mobilization strategies, and local labor laws.
- Technical Skills: Strong financial acumen, advanced grant writing capabilities, comprehensive risk management capacity, and proficiency in high-stakes multi-stakeholder negotiations.
- Core Traits: Resilient leader, intercultural sensitivity, analytical decision-maker, and excellent open communicator.
