Applications are now officially open for the 2027 cohort of McCall MacBain Scholars at McGill University in Canada. Rated #1 in Canada and #27 worldwide in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, McGill University partners with this prestigious program to look beyond academic metrics. The McCall MacBain Scholarship seeks diverse, purposeful leaders who possess an inner drive to make a positive impact, bridging communities with humility, integrity, and bold vision.
Selected scholars pursue a fully funded master's or second-entry professional undergraduate degree while engaging in a world-class, multi-year leadership development curriculum.
The McCall MacBain Scholarship is a comprehensive, fully funded package that covers:
- Tuition & Fees: Full coverage for the normal duration of your eligible master’s or professional undergraduate program.
- Living Stipend: $2,300 CAD per month during active academic terms.
- Relocation Allowance: A one-time grant to support your move to Montreal, Canada.
- Language Training: Free beginner-to-advanced French language courses offered directly through McGill.
- Summer Funding: Up to $5,000 CAD available to pursue meaningful non-academic summer initiatives.
Up to 30 full scholarships and 100 finalist/regional awards will be distributed following a rigorous interview process:
- International Applicants (Any Citizenship outside Canada):
- 10 Full McCall MacBain Scholarships (tenable at McGill).
- 25 Finalist Awards of $20,000 CAD per year for up to 2 years (tenable at McGill).
- 15 Regional Awards of $10,000 CAD (tenable at any public university in Canada).
- You can apply for this scholarship if you plan to enter full-time, campus-based studies (consisting of 45 credits or more) starting in Summer/Fall 2027.
- Master’s Degrees: Available across more than 150 fields of study, including Arts (MA), Science (MSc), Engineering (MEng), Business (MBA), Public Policy (MPP), Information Studies (MISt), Law (LLM), and Social Work (MSW).
- Professional Undergraduate Degrees: BCL/JD (Law), DMD (Dentistry), and MDCM (Medicine).
- Exclusions: PhDs, graduate certificates, executive master's (EMBA, IMHL, IMPM), part-time programs, and joint degrees are not covered.
Beyond financial backing, scholars participate in an intensive interdisciplinary leadership program consisting of
- Annual summer intensives and bi-weekly seminars (covering strategic planning, crisis communication, entrepreneurial leadership, and public speaking).
- Direct engagements with Indigenous history and worldviews led by the foundation's Elder-in-residence.
- Second-Year Travel: Place-based learning trips to other regions of Quebec or Canada (recent destinations include Quebec City, Winnipeg, and Vancouver) to analyze complex local community systems.
